Kathryn Teixeira retires on Friday, November 6th after twenty years working for Sonoma State University in the School of Education.
With her years at the Sonoma State, Kathryn became an integral part of the School of Education team. When asked about her colleague, department chair Chiara Bacigalupa said "Kathryn has been a great help in learning all of the little details about administering an undergraduate major. No matter what my question is, she always knows who to ask and then she is able to interpret their answers. And she has great book recommendations!"
The staff and faculty have nothing but nice things to say and will remember her time with the School of Education fondly. Department chair Jennifer Mahdavi thinks back to how Kathryn has helped her over the years. She said, "Kathryn’s support when I become a department chair was invaluable. I couldn’t possibly have done this job without her prompting me to complete tasks, like scheduling, offering contracts, and completing the dreaded FAD. She’s so knowledgeable, so capable, and so professional, all while also being kind and maintaining her sense of humor, that all of us in the SOE will miss her terribly."
Kathryn began her career at Sonoma State with the California Reading and Literacy Project in 1995. She then took as position as an Administrative Coordinator in the Literacy Studies and Elementary Education Department in 2002. She then went on to become an Administrative Analyst in the Dean's Office five years ago, providing vital support to the department chairs of the School of Education. This past year, Kathryn was honored as the 2014-2015 Staff Excellence Award winner for her exemplary job performance.
Kathryn expressed how much she has enjoyed working for the School of Education, and her appreciation for the events and credential ceremonies but what she has cherished the most has been her interactions with the department chairs and being able to work so closely with all the faculty and staff. The School of Education, would like to wish Kathryn Teixeira the best and congratulate her on the work she has done as we celebrate her retirement this Friday from 3:00-5:00 PM in the Student Center, Ballroom C.
